Clinical Trials

Clinical trials offer new therapies for patients with IBD

  • they can be existing medications (in various doses or forms)
  • new medications that target different proteins or pathways
  • new combinations of medications
  • new strategies of treatment are being studies

Mount Sinai Hospital IBD centre is conducting a variety of clinical trials.  For more information, please go to the website http://www.zanecohencentre.com/ibd/research.

If you are planning to become pregnant in the near future, and are in a clinical trial, you should inform your physician and the research coordinator.   You should not become pregnant while participating in a clinical trial of medications, since it is potentially unknown any effects of the new drug or dose on the fetus.  Should you become pregnant while in a clinical trial, it is important to immediately notify your clinical trials physician and your regular physicians, and seek attention from a high risk obstetrician.
